Why I Started Blogging Again

A funny thing has happened since I started Adri Notices Things.

I can’t stop thinking about what I want to write next.

Not because I have a content calendar to follow. Or because I’m trying to grow an audience. Or because I think anyone is sitting around waiting for my next post.

I just genuinely want to write.

And that feels strange because I’ve had blogs before, and I don’t remember feeling this excited about them.

So what’s different this time?

I think I stopped trying to be a content creator.

For a long time, I approached writing like I was building something for other people instead of creating something for myself.

Every post needed to be deep, informational, entertaining, or inspiring.

Because that’s what people like, right?

At some point, writing stopped feeling like writing and started feeling like work.

I got so focused on what other people wanted that I forgot what I wanted.

An the funny thing is that I actually like writing.

A lot.

Writing helps me process and make sense of the world around me.

But not every thought needs to become a lesson.

Sometimes I don’t have anything profound to say.

Sometimes I just want to write about why pineapple absolutely belongs on pizza. Or why I’ve listened to the same song twenty times in a row.

And I think that’s okay.

Actually, I think that’s where some of the best writing comes from.

Adri Notices Things has given me something my previous blogs never did: freedom.

Freedom to be curious.

Freedom to write imperfectly.

Freedom to follow a thought wherever it leads.

Now don’t get me wrong, I still care about writing well. I’m definitely not hitting publish on a draft that feels unfinished to me.

But there’s a difference between wanting something to be good and needing it to be perfect.

This blog doesn’t need to be perfect.

It just needs to be real.

I’ve also realized something else.

For most of my life, I’ve been known as the shy, quiet girl.

And I was. Still am.

But guess what? This shy and quiet girl actually does have things to say.

I’m becoming the kind of writer who notices things and writes them down.

The big things; small things; Holy things; and the ordinary things.

The older I get, the more convinced I am that there is joy hiding in all of these.

And if nobody reads any of it?

I’d still write.

Because this blog isn’t just about being read.

It’s about giving myself permission to enjoy something again.

To be creative. And curious. To be myself.

If people want to follow along, I’m grateful for that.

And if not, that’s okay too.

They don’t pay my bills anyway.

Lol 😆
