I’ve noticed that when life gets busy, I tend to remember the big things and forget the little ones.
So before I move on to June, I wanted to write down some of the small joys that made May feel special.
There’s no crazy, life-changing moments. Just things that made me smile, brought me comfort, or reminded me that there’s goodness tucked into ordinary days.
Starting Adri Notices Things
🖇️ Writing has always helped me process what I’m feeling, thinking about, and experiencing. It’s one of the ways I make sense of the world around me, and it’s a hobby I genuinely enjoy. I’ve started blogs before, but they usually fizzled out because I put too much pressure on myself. So this time, I’m doing things differently.
Instead of trying to build a curated content machine, I’m treating this blog like an online diary. A place to write down what I’m noticing, thinking about, learning, questioning, and experiencing in real time. With no pressure.
Choosing a Doula
My husband and I spent a lot of time researching and interviewing doulas this month. Finding someone who felt like the right fit was important to us, especially as we prepare to welcome our baby later this year.
🤗 When we finally chose our doula, I felt a huge sense of relief and excitement. It made everything feel a little more real.
Locking In Spiritually
One of the biggest gifts of May was feeling a renewed desire to spend time with God (shoutout 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting 🛐).
I’ve been trying to pray more intentionally, spend time in the Word every day, and make fellowship with other believers a priority. Between church, conferences, and conversations with friends who love Jesus, I’ve been reminded how much I need Christian community in my life.
I still have a lot of room to grow, but this month felt like a reset with more abiding. I’m learning that staying close to God isn’t about perfection. It’s about continually turning my heart back toward Him.
Being Featured in #AutisticVoices
👀 Seeing my story shared publicly as part of Year Up United Bay Area Alumni’s #AutisticVoices series still feels surreal.
When I was diagnosed with autism at 20, I spent years keeping it to myself. I never imagined I’d one day volunteer to publicly share that part of my story—let alone have my personal account tagged alongside it.
When the post went live, I was nervous. Really nervous. But it also felt meaningful. Younger me would’ve never believed I’d be comfortable putting the word “autistic” next to my own name in public, and I’m grateful for how far I’ve come. Check out the post here!
Gather the Bay
☝️ Spending a weekend worshipping, learning, and being surrounded by other young adults who love Jesus was encouraging in ways I’m still processing. There are four main takeaways I simply cannot get out of my head.
Little Things
A few other joys from May:
- Texts from friends
- Comfortable clothes
- Worship music in the car
- Feeling baby move
- Munching on peaches and raspberries
- Quiet evenings with my husband
Until Next Month
👋 May wasn’t extravagant, but it was full of little reminders that joy still shows up in the mundane moments of everyday life.
